The Taxman Still Cometh

The government shutdown created by the Democrat Party’s refusal to secure our borders may be collecting some new victims: John and Jane Q. Taxpayer.  According to the Wall Street Journal, the Internal Revenue Service will still be able to “process tax returns, keep systems running, and conduct criminal investigations,” but may not be able to answer filers’ questions or issue refunds.  As long as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stands for the hordes infiltrating America, the Democrats’ attack dogs at the IRS will gladly take citizens’ dollars, but if those citizens are owed a rebate, or even have a simple query about their returns, they’re on their own.

And don’t think for one moment that the potential delay in refunds translates to an extension of the traditional April 15th due date; the suit’n’sunglasses brigade will still show up at your door if they think you’ve shorted Uncle Sam.  Bonus: thanks to America’s medieval civil asset forfeiture laws, even if the IRS is wrong, you’ll have a tougher time getting back your scratch than a cop killer does getting a free pass to Californistan.

As if we needed another reminder of where Americans stand on the left’s list of priorities, there are no plans to halt the billions of dollars taken from us and handed to illegal aliens.  Sorry Tom, Dick, and Harriet, but Tomas, Diego, and Jorge outrank you these days.
